I have also lied, to avoid a confrontation with a volatile person, and to not hurt someones feelings. I know a lie is a lie, and even though I wasn't being malicious or trying to cover up some deceit, I still hate that I sinned against my father. I am now insecure about how he sees me.
I have lusted, and became angry with myself because I let my thoughts be greedy with lust and desire, instead of Yah's spirit. Praise Yah, I have not acted upon my thoughts. I would like to know, if I reminisce about a sexual encounter, I've had with a loved one, that was pleasurable. Is that considered lust? I procrastinate, and I think because, I dont feel like success will follow, certain
goals I have set. Impatience, wanting too much too soon.

(User Info | Send a Message) | | It was somewhat difficult for me to simply choose between sexual immorality and insecurity since often times the former is born out of the latter. Furthermore, the term sexual immorality covers many sub categories, and it is sometimes difficult to come to grips with the fact that the lust in my heart carries the same conviction, SPIRITUALLY, as the physical act. Thus, to answer the question with honesty can be humbling. When you think of every sin that is covered by the term "sexual immorality", you get a rude awakening when you realize, "Hey, even the secret lust I carry around in that hidden place, puts me in the same categorical "boat" as those who commit the physical act of harlotry, adultry, etc., because it's all SEXUAL IMMORALITY! I will claim by faith, and testify to the effect, however, that YAH has already given me the victory in this area. It is, howvever, somewhat like being an alcoholic in that I still have to maintain that one day at a time attitude. It gets easier to keep under control, and at times its not an issue at all. But then there are those times when it's a challenge. It is an issue of self-discipline as well as spiritual rebirth. Intrusive thoughts are sometimes inevitable, but they can be minimized by self imposed restrictions as to the conversations & entertainment activities we engage in. This includes the shows / movies we watch, the music we listen to, & the type of places we go for liesure. If your right eye offends you, pluck it out! This means if I have a problem with lust putting blocks on certain programs or getting rid of cable altogether if that's what it takes. This means turning down invites to parties and places where lust is the primary objective. This also means staying busy with those things that are beneficial. Though it's not biblical, in my personal experience, the proverb "an idle mind is the devil's workshop" rings true. I like to get involved with the parent organizations and volunteer at the schools in my idle time. I'm always taking classes for my job or Bible studies or something constructive. In the end I just try to stay too busy to get into trouble. But it's not ALL about keeping the intrusive thoughts from occuring. It's also what you do when they come. My understanding is that the sin is commited in the ENTERTAINMENT of the evil thought and not merely the occurance of it. Still, I have to drive to to work, walk to the store, etc. WITH MY EYES OPEN. So ultimately I have to rely on th power of prayer, and the HOLY SPIRIT to keep me from veering off road (pun intended). Although we are not of the world, we are still IN it. Hence, we also need from YAH a newness of both mind and spirit as Melek Daweed prayed in the 51st Psalm. In addition to those carnal sanctions we place on ourselves, we still need to have the mental and spiritual mechanisms in place for the inevitable confrontation with temptation and sin. Let us, therefore, by the spirit promised us by him who has redeemed us, take back our authority and declare ourselves free from the bondage of sin and govern ourselves accordingly.
